Here is an exemple of a tiny studio makeover on a home staging budget. No structural changes were made, only cosmetics. This gives you an idea of what a coat of paint and some design elements can add to your project to finish it up.
Before: a blank page
The bathroom was in good condition and fully functional, so no need for change there. The whole flat was just refurbished in surface for the sale and was in serious lack of identity: white walls and basic carpet. The kitchen was really dated and the tiles were just impossible to work with, even on a vintage look and feel option.
After: a refined cocoon to snuggle in
The carpet was changed into a dark wooden floor in order to modernise the flat itself. A rug was added for warmth. To maximise the space (14.7sqm), the bed was place at the end of the room by the window. This allowed to have a reasonable living space and being able to add a desk and a chair.
The window is west facing and the main visual impact we had for the walls was to work of the window wall directly visible from the front door and the right wall which you discover when entering the room. We decided on a light pale blue not to be too bold and keep the walls as light as possible. Since we were working in a confined space, a bold color would have been too much.
The pipes were painted in a shiny black and dressed with a very design lamp connected to a power plug linked to a light switch. A smaller version of the lamp was added to the bedside table as an echo. In order not to take any of the floor space by the insert of a TV cabinet, it was decided to be wall hang in front of the bed on an adjustable and rotating arm.
In the kitchen, the tiles were painted in a light grey, the cabinets in a light olive green. The wall lights were also changed into a more modern grey version. In the entrance, a copper and glass light was installed, as well as some coat-hangers. We managed to find a shelving unit to add storage to the bathroom as well.
This contemporary look was finished off by some design furniture, decorative elements and a new bedding in line with the whole project.
